Alright, we’re not going to go into our full review just yet due to timing issues but we plan on writing up a full review of Summersville Lake Retreat soon, specifically the lighthouse tour and the RV park / campground.
As this letter is written, we’re currently staying at Summersville Lake Retreat. The staff is very accommodating and the campground itself is well kept and… well, beautiful. The laves are changing – the scene couldn’t be prettier.
All good things must come to an end, right? Our plan was to stay here at Summersville Lake Retreat through the 15th of October but unfortunately, we’re in the bullseye for Hurricane Delta’s, soon-to-be Tropical Depression. With Tropical Depressions come heavy rain, thunderstorms, the threat of tornados, flooding, etc so we decided it was in our families best I interest to pack up and divert outside of the storm before it arrives.
We sent an email to Diane asking about whether or not we could get the dates we have to depart refunded and she responded with, “Unfortunately, as I explained when you were at the gatehouse, there will be no credit issued. “
In the RV Park world, refunds for early departures are common, and even more common if there’s a threat like a hurricane, tropical depression, natural disaster, etc.
So, food for thought when booking here. Outside hurricane season, this place is a gem. If there is anything that will result in you having to leave early, even with notice be prepared to not see a credit or refund.
